About Need for Bleep
Calm, structured clinical revision for junior doctors, linked to the national guidance on every page.
Why this site exists
The first bleep about a sick patient you have never met is one of the hardest moments of being a new doctor. Need for Bleep turns each common acute presentation into the same five calm steps — settle and check, understand, rule out the killers, investigate, and plan — so the approach becomes automatic before you need it.
How the pages are written
- Every walkthrough is anchored to current UK national guidance — NICE, BTS/SIGN, RCEM, BOAST, the Resuscitation Council UK and others — and links to the source so you can check it yourself.
- Each page shows the date it was last updated. Guidance changes; pages are revised when it does.
- The clerking templates are documentation structures to help you think systematically, not completeness checks.
Important
Need for Bleep is an educational revision resource. It is not a medical device, not clinical advice and not for use in live patient care. In practice, always follow your local trust guidelines and involve your seniors.
